Brooklyn Museum of Art | Brooklyn, New York
Library Improvements combined the elements of an architectural program and phased implementation plan for the Museum’s two major research collections: the Art Reference Library and the Wilbour Library of Egyptology.
The goals for the project were to provide for an appropriate research environment enabling greater access to the collections, promote new educational opportunities for the Museum as a learning center, and provide global access through technology. The three-phased implementation included temporary book relocations, space and technology upgrades, and expansion of accessible book storage through the use of compact shelving. The project was coordinated with the relocation of the Prints Photographs and Drawings curatorial offices and implemented as part of the Museum’s Entrance Upgrade.
As the in-house Architect, Ann Marie Baranowski AIA was responsible for managing the planning process, coordinating with Head Librarian and the Chief Curator, and directing the project’s consultant team from planning and programming through design development.
