STUYVESANT PARK RESIDENCE

Private Client | New York, New York

This 1860s five story townhouse in a landmarked district was renovated to a two family residence. The main goal for the renovation was to orient the cellar and first floor levels to the garden. AMBA worked closely with the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission to achieve compliance and approvals for the exterior work.

A full, eat-in kitchen with custom cabinetry was created with a glass door and French casement window that allow physical and visual connections to the outdoors. An open stair connects the first floor living room to the new kitchen. Existing windows and masonry were removed in the living room to create floor-to-ceiling glazing. A new wood and steel balcony is detailed with cable connections to the structural wall.

The renovation was phased to accommodate both the client’s financial requirements and staged occupancy of the residence..
